Questions, bugs, or trouble getting a server configured — reach out and we'll help.
Getting a server working
- Chute doesn't come with a built-in upload destination — you point it at your own server or any service that accepts a simple file upload. Under Servers, add the Request URL, any headers it needs (like an API key), and where in its JSON response the file's link lives.
- If an upload fails, check the exact error shown in History — it's usually the server's own response, which tells you whether the URL, headers, or field name need adjusting.
- The response path field accepts nested values, like
data.url, if your server wraps the link inside another object.
Common issues
- Nothing happens when I share a file (iOS): make sure at least one server is added under Servers before using the share sheet.
- Screenshots aren't uploading automatically (Mac): check Preferences — a screenshot folder needs to be selected and auto-upload turned on.
- A capture failed silently (Mac): check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording, and confirm Chute is enabled there.
